Colorado Rocky MountainsOkay, so my Mom and I, who are both Colorado natives, were lamenting about the the 420 “celebration” in Colorado on Easter, of all days. I can only imagine the shock that my Grandparents would be experiencing if they were still with us. I found myself personally offended that the state of my birth and the home of the most glorious Rocky Mountains, where I spent the summers of my childhood, is now labeled as the weed capitol of the U.S.

I’ve been thinking alot about the Crucifixion and Resurrection these past few days.  Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, MY attitude of condemnation was all wrong. I was outraged that 420 was being celebrated on Easter, it was an insult to Christ.“Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do.” Yep, those were the words of Christ as He hung beaten, naked, dying and nailed to a cross, scorned, laughed at and mocked. Condemned as a criminal, though He was innocent. He could have cursed the fools who carried out this injustice, but that wasn’t the plan and, of course, that wasn’t His nature (although I have to admit it would be my first reaction).

Instead, He forgave them.

If He forgave them, then who am I to judge these celebrants?  I am certainly no better than they are. Had I not taken the road I ultimately took in life, I surely could have been there celebrating too. Thankfully, I am celebrating Easter today, a New Life, and forgiveness (I need it, that’s for sure).

Ahh, why don’t I focus on the huge log in my own eye (both eyes actually) instead of focusing on and criticizing the tiny speck in my neighbor’s eye? Who am I to criticize anyone else?

After all, I was the fool in the crowd who benefitted from the greater plan.

I am so THANKFUL!!!

Happy Easter to all!!!
